Cubs Whistle Stop Tour of LondonOn Sunday 13th May, 4 lucky Cubs from Westerham joined 24 other Cubs from 7 groups to go on a "Whistle Stop Tour of London". They gathered early in the morning at Otford Station and took the train to London Bridge and the first port of call: HMS Belfast. After an hor spent on board next stop was Tower Bridge, St.Katherine’s Dock and then the Tower of London. A quick hop on the Docklands Light Railway was followed by a walk under the Thames via the foot tunnel across to Greenwich. This group of cubs was fortunate to see the Cutty Sark before the dreadful fire which destroyed so much of this fine old vessel. Lunch was taken at the National Maritime Museum and then suitably refuelled, a walk up the hill to the Observatory. Finally the river trip took place and this ended at Bank. A walk (run?) across the Millenium Bridge, a brief view of the Globe Theatre and then a comfort stop at the Tate Modern. It was then time to head for home via the Embankment and the National Theatre. The return train left Charing Cross and eventually the group arrived at Otford, weary but happy after such an amazing day out. It was a pity aboout the weather but what can you do! Thank you to all the leaders for arranging such a wonderful outing. | Upcoming eventsLatest newsCub Football Tournament |
