SunDown Ceremony at The Vine - 31-07-2007A group of Westerham Cubs (who were taking part in an overnight camp at Riverhead) along with a beaver, a scout and various leaders helped to celebrate the Scouting Centenary by being part of the Sun-Down Ceremony by the Bandstand in Vine Gardens, Sevenoaks. This was an opportunity for all Scouts, past and present, to reaffirm their promise. As well as this, the church bells were rung in Sevenoaks and Otford, and they could just be heard above the local traffic noise! A Promise Book was presented to the Sevenoaks Mayor, himself a former scout, containing the names of all the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers in the Sevenoaks District. A Centenary Treasure Hunt is running until Monday 6th August with shop windows throughout the town displaying clues for a Centenary word search or phrase. This is being sponsored by the Sevenoaks District Scout Shop.Entry details are available on www.sevenoaksscouts.org.uk more news articles... | Upcoming eventsLatest newsJumble Sale |
